There's a new watch journal for people who post content exclusively on DW and/or prefer to have their stuff linked to from DW. I'm not actively adding people (save fore a few exceptions, be sure to yell at me if you'd rather I didn't!) for the obvious reasons, so if you want to be included, PLEASE comment there or to me/PM me, thank you. :)

This post doesn't mean I'm trying to debunk that blog post about why Goseiger failed. I personally believe Goseiger did a terrific job as a sentai.

Reasons why Goseiger did not fail.(Spoilers for the whole series apply.) )

Title: Dating in Space
Author: Angel Negra
Rating: PG
Pairing: Ahim/Luka, some implied Joe/Doc
Summary: How to fall in love on the run.
Author's Notes: I was actually aiming to start off my Gokai writing with a totally different pairing, but this demanded to be written first.

It started with the night they were sailing in a comet's trail, hiding from a Zangyack patrol ship. )

My wife [personal profile] nisshi has been doodling what we call 'Shinkenbeans' all week at work and decided to put them up on her journal. Check them out here! XD

Supanova is an Australian comics and sci-fi convention, which was held today in Sydney.

A friend who attended popped up with the image inside the cut below, which was supposedly floating around as a recent design from the 2010 Super Sentai.

I haven't seen it elsewhere (but then again, I don't frequent rangerboard.com or henshinjustice.com or anything like that and rely entirely on Dreamwidth and LiveJournal for news) so figured I'd share.Kinda... interesting? )

Samurai Sentai Shinkenger
Acts 17-18
"Sushi Samurai" / "Samurai Promotion"

Where's all the commentary on this, folks? It's one of the key arcs of the series!

Behind a 'bara', because spoilers hurt. )

For those who use Facebook, a Super Sentai page was created last year. I just this minute secured its official username, so it can now be accessed directly via:

Samurai Sentai Shinkenger
Act 16
"Kuroko Power"

The really superficial nature of this series is starting to show, I think. The characters are endearing enough, and everything is pretty and cheery, but we're getting really shallow plots. And what's the point to having Takeru be so stern and uptight without a deep, emotive subplot to back it up? Instead of seeming like someone with a heavy burden to carry, he's starting to just come across as someone who can't have fun...

One question: is anyone else finding it a bit jarring that around half the time the Shinkengers attack Gedoushuu who haven't actually done anything wrong? They seem to have the attitude that they should be destroyed no matter what, but this episode's Ayakashi didn't do anything wrong (as far as we could tell) until he was attacked. Given that many previous sentai series have shown at least one villain who actually turned out to be a pretty nice guy when given half the chance, does this bother anyone else? They haven't done anything in the series to establish an innate evilness in the Gedoushuu, yet.

I just had the immense pleasure of watching Chou Ninja Tai Inazuma and SPARK.

It's funny, funny stuff - treat yourself, if you haven't yet. Having DekaRed lose his temper with Kaze no Shizuka is something all sentai fans need to see. :)

The question is: do we (sentai fandom, that is) consider Inazuma to be sentai or not? I tend to think of it as being like Marvel Comics' Marvels Comics from the late-1990s - that is, the comics available for sale in the Marvel Universe. Here, it would be the sentai show that the Shinkengers' sit down to watch on Sunday mornings. (Well, it would have been the Boukengers and Gekirangers, but you know what I'm getting at.)

Is there any general consensus on this?

Either way, everyone should really watch it. I almost split my sides many times!

She made me a ShinkenGreen as a very early birthday present. She's now halfway through making a ShinkenRed for me, too.

I figured I'd share. So without further ado, I hotlink without consent to:

Samurai Sentai Shinkenger
Act 15
"The Impostor and Real Deal's Big Catch"

I've only got a few thoughts on this one, but hopefully they'll prompt at least as much discussion as last time!

Tell me how much you agree with my points! ;-)

Since this community hasn't seen much use, yet, I figured I'd post my thoughts here rather than at my own journal as a prompt for broader discussion. Up first is:

Samurai Sentai Shinkenger
Act 14
"The Foreign Samurai"

And where was Rescue Fire during all this, might I ask?

Behind the cut for the benefit of those who haven't seen it yet. )

So, what did you all think? More so than any other, this Act raised a lot of interesting questions that extend to issues of morality, virtue and life far beyond the realms of samurai heroics!

Welcome to all sentai fans who have made it over to dreamwidth, and those who chose to join this community.

This post is to advertise related feeds, mostly fansubbers:

[syndicated profile] grownupsinspandex_feed - This group has gotten pretty far into Liveman, and recently started Battle Fever J and JAKQ.
[syndicated profile] harorangers_feed - This group fansubs CarRanger, and also has some non-tokusatsu releases.
[syndicated profile] tokuraws_feed - Releases raws, meaning non-subtitled episodes, of various series.
[syndicated profile] tvnihon_feed - Most sentai fans already know of this group, which has fansubbed all sentai from 2004 (Dekaranger) on, along with various other sentai and tokusatsu shows.
